Catalonia playa Manorama the hotel, which is located at a privileged point on the Caribbean coast, is named after the magnificent beach known as Playa de Punta Maroma. Surrounded by lush mangrove forests which are native to the Yucatan peninsula, the hotel is located in an area of astonishing, scenic beauty.

The legend behind the creation of the luxurious Maroma Resort and Spa is almost too good to be true. The story of the owner's early days on Mexico's famed Maroma Beach reads like a real-life Robinson Caruso. The luxurious Maroma Resort and Spa standing today was built on a foundation of what the Moreno's term "handmade hospitality." The Maroma Hotel's official grand opening was Valentine's Day in 1995.

Maroma offers 66 rustically luxurious rooms and suites. All guestrooms offer ocean or garden views, and feature original art by resident artist Bertrand Castelli, hand-loomed bedding and rugs, private terraces with sofas and or double hammocks, bamboo shutters, telephone, in-room safes, high speed internet connection and CD players.

In Maroma's Kinan Spa has launched four new treatments to honour its natural surroundings. These can be combined with a traditional Mayan Temazcal, a ritualistic treatment which weaves together ancient traditions to leave an overall feeling of cleanliness, calm and inner peace.

Surrounded by a nature preserve, Maroma Resort & Spa is more of a place to hide out and escape than to meet and mingle. The whole property has a calm and soothing feeling. It comes to life at meal times, when guests have the opportunity to socialize and lounge on El Restaurante.

Maroma features hand-made accents, hand-painted bath tiles, hand-woven rugs and bedding, and original art. Guests can experience a traditional Mayan steam bath or can get a workout in the modern exercise room overlooking one of the three pools.
