Mayakoba Riviera Maya

Fairmont Mayakoba is located approximately 42 miles or 70 km south of Cancun, within the Mayakoba resort development, a secure 240-acre gated community surrounded by canals, shoreline and mangrove forests, which is only accessible via one main entrance point.

Set among mangroves, winding canals and lagoons and a secluded, unspoiled beach, this sprawling, family-friendly resort is a great choice for those wanting to unwind while having all the five-star luxuries at their fingertips.

Fairmont Mayakoba was designed and built specially considering our mangrove's protection. These forests of the coastline are considered the "kidneys of our planet" as they are responsible for cleaning the water in our coral reefs.

Each of the elegant and spacious guest rooms has its own expansive bathroom and private terrace with your choice of views including lush mangroves or tranquil lagoons. Designed for your comfort and convenience, the 401 luxurious accommodation units are well-appointed and come with all the contemporary amenities to make your stay a pleasant one.

Water activities are also a staple with the beach just steps away as well as five swimming pools on the property including a 10,000-square-foot free-form pool and water-slide, adults-only infinity edge pool and a children's pool.

The beaches here feature powdery white sand and sapphire blue water. You can enjoy them by swimming, kayaking, sailing, fishing, learning how to snorkel, or scuba diving at the nearby Great Mayan Reef. Divers from around the world come to explore this 600 mile reef as well as nearby Cozumel, making this area one of the planet's premier diving and snorkeling destinations.

Water here is the colour of Spanish Olives. Fernando explains that the deep green hue is caused by mangrove pigmentation. Cormorants, also called "diver ducks" dart out of the bush and, for a moment, I think I'm in the Florida Everglades. An iguana basks on a rock, storks - long legs dangling - dash out from the reeds.

Fairmont Mayakoba's various areas are connected by a series of navigable lagoons enabling easy movement throughout the resort community using complimentary 'lanchas', a covered canal boat service, as well as a network of well-marked nature trails.
